Download the LTS version (currently 20.x). The installer adds node and npm to your terminal automatically.

Create a Claude account, then subscribe to Pro ($20/mo) to test or Max ($100/mo) for serious daily use. The Max plan is what I use — you’ll hit limits with Pro fast.
Open Terminal (macOS) or PowerShell (Windows) and run:

Free, lightweight, and Claude Code integrates natively with it. Install the Claude Code extension from the marketplace once VS Code is open.
Download VS CodeOn macOS, run git --version in Terminal — it’ll prompt to install if missing. On Windows, download from the link below.
Create a free account (use your work email). Send me your username so I can add you as collaborator on the kit repo.
Create GitHub accountOnce everything is installed, open Terminal and run claude. If a colored prompt appears asking what you want to do, you’re ready. If anything errors out, screenshot it and send to me on WhatsApp.
